Austin Lakeway Airpark History

Austin Lakeway Airpark opened in 1939 and was known as Airfield Ranch until 1946. The airport was bought by developers in the late 1960’s and Austin Lakeway Airpark was turned into the centerpiece of a getaway resort that featured a golf course, marina and lakeside hotel. The resort ended up being a financial failure and the different resort properties were broken into parcels and sold separately. Austin Lakeway Airpark was purchased by a group of local residents in 1995 and is run by the not-for profit group Lakeway Airpark LLC.
