North Perry Airport History

North Perry Airport’s roots go back to World War II, when the U.S. Navy rented 400 acres of farmland from Henry Perry to use as an emergency landing strip. The Navy purchased 640 acres from Mr. Perry in 1943 and established a permanent training base for naval pilot’s to practice approaches onto aircraft carriers. Future President George Bush Sr. trained at North Perry Airport.

After the war, the airport went unused until 1950 when Broward County purchased the land and established a general aviation airport. North Perry Airport was named the “General Aviation Airport of the Year” in 2008 by the Florida Department of Transportation.

There are three fixed-base operators at North Perry Airport:

The Fuel Depot at Bobby’s Landing operates a private jet passenger terminal with a passenger waiting lobby and pilot snooze room. The Fuel Depot at Bobby’s Landing provides ample ramp parking for all aircraft.

Pelican Flight Training provides a private jet passenger terminal for their customers complete with a passenger waiting lobby. Pelican Flight Training can only fuel piston aircraft but have a large ramp available for all aircraft. Hollywood Aviation’s facility does not operate a private jet passenger, however, they can provide aircraft fueling for piston powered aircraft as well as hangar rental.
