ORLANDO SANFORD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT HISTORY

Orlando Sanford International airport was declared for use as a Naval Air Station in 1942 during The Second World War. In 1971 the state owners created The Sanford Airport Authority, who has been responsible for the airport's operations and improvements since. The airport went under major upgrades in the mid-90s to early 2000s where a runway was extended and the taxiways improved. A new FBO was also build during the period.
