The airport is named after Jesse L. Reno and Lake Tahoe.
Reno-Tahoe International Airport was built in 1929 by Boeing Transport Inc, originally named Hubbard Field after the VP at the time, Eddie Hubbard.
In 1953 the City of Reno acquired the airport and in 1994 it was renamed to Reno-Tahoe International Airport.
Reno-Tahoe International Airport is the second busiest airport in Nevada, after McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas.
