Waco Regional Airport History
The airport began construction in 1941. In 1942 the airport was used by the US Army as a training airfield.
Waco Regional Airport was originally named China Springs Army Air Field, then Waco Army Air Field during the war, and later the Blackland Army Airfield.
The airport was given back to the local government in 1950 and renamed Waco Regional Airport accordingly.
